Description

He is one of the most multifaceted figures of European history: Frederick II, known as "the Great.” To mark his 300th birthday in 2012, the Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg is presenting Frederick's character and outlook on the world in his most magnificent palace building, the Neues Palais, as well as at selected locations in Sanssouci Park in Potsdam.
The pleasure he derived in risk-taking was a striking characteristic of this monarch: FRIEDERISIKO (Frederick's Risk) is therefore the leitmotif of a major exhibition in an authentic original setting. A side of the Prussian king can be discovered that has not been seen before - and previously unknown interiors in the palace building, which he himself planned in every detail.
Twelve thematic topics about the king and his times unfold in 6,000 sq. m. with more than 70, extensively restored chambers and halls (some accessible for the first time). In addition to luxurious original interiors and approximately 500 unique exhibits, a contemporary artist will bring one of the suites to life with a spectacular installation.
Experience something new, ask questions and receive surprising answers: FRIEDERISIKO promises a fascinating experience that also inspires further reflection - an unusual journey of discovery!
