Basic support can only be applied for if the theatre/dance group or privately organised theatre has an established artistic quality in addition to artistic potential, i.e. is able to demonstrate a certain artistic status. You can apply for grants towards general theatre work, the development of productions as well as operating grants if necessary. Officially, performance costs cannot be financed.
Basic support can be provided for a period of two years.

Bursaries are awarded as support for further training for qualified dancers and choreographers resident in Berlin. The applicant must be involved in “Contemporary dance”. These grants will be available to:
- people who have completed professional training in the field
- people who have evident artistic talent and want to leave their current career for one in performing arts
- people who are looking for a career-change within the performing arts (e.g. a dancer who wants to become a choreographer, an actor who wants to direct).

As of 2010 there will be support available in the form of grants for people starting a career in the performing arts. These grants will be available to:
- people who have completed professional training in the field
- people who have evident artistic talent and want to leave their current career for one in the performing arts
- people who are looking for a career-change within the performing arts (e.g. a dancer who wants to become a choreographer, an actor who wants to direct).
Only people who have not yet received any financial support from the Berlin Department for Culture (Berlin Kulturverwaltung) are eligible to apply. Grants are awarded annually by an academic jury. Applications open until 30th June for the following year.
