As of 2010 there will be support available in the form of grants for people starting a career in the performing arts. These grants will be available to:

• people who have completed professional training in the field
• people who have evident artistic talent and want to leave their current career for one in the performing arts
• people who are looking for a career-change within the performing arts (e.g. a dancer who wants to become a choreographer, an actor who wants to direct).

Only people who have not yet received any financial support from the Berlin Department for Culture (Berlin Kulturverwaltung) are eligible to apply. Grants are awarded annually by an academic jury. Applications open until 30th June for the following year.
