EDUCATION Adelphi University, Garden City, NY December 2012 Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology Coursework included fieldwork and lab techniques as well as technical drawing. Wrote short ethnography in cultural anthropology (capstone course) as senior thesis.
EXPERIENCE Gallery Assistant – REVERSE Art Space, Brooklyn, NY January 2013 to June 2013 Responsibilities include set up and break down of exhibitions, social media and blogging, and creating press releases for events and shows as well as updating the galleries website. I was also the initial point of contact for clients, curators, and visitors. Worked with gallery owner to apply for non-profit organization status.
Assistant to Professor – Crete, Greece June 2012 to August 2012 Out of some 20 applicants was selected for this summer course and was one of three students chosen to assist Prof. Agelarakis at an Archaeological excavation in Greece. Responsible for analyzing and cleaning skeletal remains, preparing technical drawing for different site sections.
Student Volunteer – Garden City, NY September 2011 to December 2011 In collaboration with 10 other students in my human rights course, I set up and coordinated 3 fund raising and several awareness events on campus throughout the semester. As a final event we held a hunger banquet benefitting Island Harvest.
Overseas Volunteer – Siem Reap, Cambodia June 2011 to August 2011 Contacted a Buddhist monastery in Siem Reap that supports a home of 15 girls who are orphaned or rescued from the sex trade industry to volunteer at said home. Responsibilities included interacting with the girls, helping them improve their English skills, and organizing craft activities. Utilizing art supplies I donated I taught the girls how to make jewelry and small-scale sculptures.
Intern – Howard Greenberg Gallery, New York, NY June 2007 to August 2007 Summer intern at the Howard Greenberg Gallery, highly renowned New York black and white photography gallery. Responsibilities included cataloging and labeling photographs for proper storage, helping to prepare photographs for framing and delivery, as well as delivering photographs to clients’ homes. Other work included updating client and artist information in the computer system, as well as general organizational tasks.
