Nachgefragt with Jack Wolf: On the tracks of the new silk road - from Hamburg to China and back
Route unknown. The only thing the artist Jack Wolf knew: …
The Investors Lab 2021 is coming to an end. We take a look back and present this year's companies. In Part 4 we talked to Mihai from Wondder, a startup that tries to empower people and organziations with Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence.
Kreativ Kultur Berlin: Hi Mihai, please introduce yourself briefly. Who are you?
Mihai:My name is Mihai Streza. In the last 20 years I became a multiple tech founder and have co-founded, among others, eRockIT, WiWo’s 2012, one of “five cleantech-startups you should know”. I have more than a decade of strategy and management experience, including working at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and scaling up Accenture’s Sustainability Strategy Services. I’m a computer scientist by education, with a graduate and undergraduate degree in Robotics and Human-Computer-Interaction from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. I’m married, have two children and live in Berlin.
Kreativ Kultur Berlin:What do you expect from an investment in your company? And what steps do you want to take afterwards?
Mihai:Our leadership trainings in Virtual Reality already have traction across a wide geography and industry sectors. We are generating considerable revenue. We’d like to work with an investment to accelerate our global growth, boost sales and marketing, grow the development team and increase our VR product library.
Kreativ Kultur Berlin:What financing strategy are you pursuing or what financing channels have you used so far to build your business?
Mihai:We, the founders, used our own money, an IBB grant, and a small angel investment. And one of the greatest sources of financing: revenue!
The Investors Lab was a great chance to connect to other entrepreneurs locally and get a clear sense of where our company's maturity stands
Kreativ Kultur Berlin:What did you learn from this year's Investors Lab Berlin? Where and how do you see your future?
Mihai: It’s great to connect to other entrepreneurs locally and get a clear sense of where wondder is in terms of company maturity. wondder’s future is becoming a global leader in VR-driven Leadership and Personal Development by 2025.
Kreativ Kultur Berlin:You have applied for the Investors Lab Berlin. Why should investors invest in your company?
Mihai:The global market for training in VR is hot right now - the technology is mature for adoption; the market need is enormous. In this huge, fast-growing market, our products are operational at several global clients. We are the European first mover and one of the leading players worldwide. On top of this being the exactly right moment technology-wise and market-wise, we have a team that can deliver on our promises. Our results in the marketplace speak volumes towards the capabilities of the company.
Kreativ Kultur Berlin:Last question: How do you build a business like yours? What obstacles do you have to overcome?
Mihai:Keeping your head in the clouds and your feet on the ground. We work on moonshots, recruit for values and deliver to the greater good.
