WISE is a festival at the intersection of music, art and technology. After starting in China for the first time in 2018, it has firmly established itself in the following years and is now being held for the fifth time - with Berlin as the main venue. On May 19 and 20, it's all about the really big topics: Metaverse, Web 3.0, the future of European music export and much, much more. In the following, we give you an overview of the variety of topics.

The future of music in Web 3.0
Web 3.0 technology seeks to bring artists, fans, and curators closer together to form a deeper community with them. What will Web 3.0 look like in 2025? Berlin Music NFT startup twelve x twelve and artist portrait XO dare to look into the crystal ball. The talk will include topics such as: Legal Compliance & Copyrights; the importance of community; co-creation and its benefits; and Web 3.0 as a tool to question, learn and innovate art practices.

How the electronic music industry is addressing the climate crisis with cultural leadership and positive action
Music culture has led to radical social and political changes throughout history. What role does the music industry now play in the climate story? What is being done to make people feel that change is possible and give them the tools to make it happen? How can they join the conversation about the climate crisis and bring positive action to their work? The expert panel will explore these questions and more, among them Noëmie Vermoesen (gigsta) and Eilidh McLaughlin (Creative Sustainability).

Africa Rising - Opportunities on the African market
Africa is on everyone's lips, mainly because African beats are influencing global music production. But what does the African music market look like? In this panel you will learn what you need to know about the African market and what we can learn from it. Speaker are Mandy Aubry (Songtrust) and Ralph Böge (Paradise Distribution).

The future of European music export
Over the past two years, there have been significant changes in the way the music industry must conduct cross-border business. What's working? What is not working? What can be improved? Stakeholders from the world of (European) music export provide answers, among them Tamara Kamińska (European Music Exporters Exchange/ Music Export Poland) and Evelyn Sieber (Reeperbahn Festival).

The future of music distribution
With Web 3.0-driven technologies and trends like NFTs & DAOs, are we once again on the verge of a paradigm shift like the one we last saw with the transition from CDs to streaming? What is the status quo of music distributors and DSPs and how are they preparing for things to come? Presenter Matthias Strobel gets to the heart of the matter with the speakers.

Music and Art in the Metaverse - the road ahead
While some are still debating whether the Metaverse exists, others are already playing concerts, buying fashion and art with this new innovation. How will the Metaverse evolve? Speakers include Frank Hahn (Ravespace & Musee Dezentral) and Jan-Michael Saaksmeier (NeXR Technologies).

MusicHub presents: Music Rights & Royalties: Caring & Sharing
How can independent musicians navigate the rights jungle while retaining 100% of their creative freedom and maximizing their royalties? MusicHub sheds light on the rights that can be associated with musical works and shows how to properly manage and claim them while maintaining full control.

Bridging China and Europe
China's rise was taken for granted, and the 21st century was to be a Chinese one. Then came Covid, Russia started a war with Ukraine, and the new world order took a brutal turn. What does all this mean for European-Chinese (cultural) exchange? Philipp Grefer seeks answers, while journalist Marcus Bösch explains the power of TikTok.

Are artists taking over brands? - A new creative relationship
For a long time, brands have capitalized on culture by using artists' songs. But a new trend is emerging in which artists and brands are forming true partnerships and pushing the boundaries of traditional music and brand relationships. Speakers includeTim Wettstein (Voltage @ DDB) and Anastasia Anschiz (The Bliss Office).

Music, shamanism and psychedelics: A Journey from the Amazon to the West
The influence of psychedelics on people's minds, creativity, and spirituality has been enormous over the years. From ancient rituals to their renaissance in the hippie and Vietnam War eras, and their widespread prohibition in the 1960s, to their recent resurgence in psychedelic-assisted therapy, microdosing, rave culture, and neo-shamanism in the tech and music worlds, their history is full of controversy, cliché, and misunderstanding. Speakers: Thomas Fischermann (DIE ZEIT Author) and Dr.med. Andrea Jungaberle (OVID Clinics).
