EU Commission strengthens bargaining power of solo self-employed workers

The EU Commission has adopted new "Guidelines on the application of EU competition law to collective agreements on working conditions for solo self-employed workers" (Guidelines). This allows solo self-employed workers to join together to conclude collective agreements under certain conditions. The Guidelines apply to solo self-employed workers who work on their own, have no employees and are in a weak bargaining position. They do not apply to solo self-employed workers who are in a comparable situation to employees.
