The coGalleries artist residency Berlin aims at stimulating exchange between international artists, curators, art organisations and art institutions. The program creates conditions for artists to succeed by offering professional support with networking, production, and presentation of their work. Depending on the type of artist’s residency it either ends with a solo exhibition in our art gallery, located in the center of Berlin's famous gallery district or with a major studio presentation.

Literarisches Colloquim Berlin

The Literary Colloquium Berlin (LCB), founded by Walter Höllerer in 1963, is an event forum and guest house, workplace and talent factory for authors and tanslators. The LCB enjoys the reputation of an institution of international significance through it’s promotional programs, project initiatives and the magazine "Language in the technical age". Public readings, workshops for authors and translators, and guests from all over the world make the house at the Wannsee a place of vivid literary activity and exchange. Since 1989, exchange with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe constitute a focus of the LCB’s program.

MOMENTUM artist in residency program can host up to 3 artists or curators for variable time periods. They are a global platform for time-based art, interested in artistic research into time and temporality. It’s a place for creation, exhibition, and exchange, internationally oriented. Each residency results in a public event such as an open studio, workshop, or exhibition. In addition to the residency, they also offer a framework for building professional networks and cooperations within Berlin’s thriving art community through curatorial support, studio visits, networking events, and project production.

The Institut für Alles Mögliche aims to question the presentation of contemporary art. They push artists in experimenting and dealing with the concept of art space. Moreover, the Institute runs a non-commercial program and they’re not market-oriented. Lastly, focus on the value of artistic practices. Residents can cooperate and experiment their own artistic practice while they visit Berlin. They have spaces in Berlin, Germany and abroad.

Berlin Sessions is a platform conceived to offer curatorial expertise, network building and logistic support in the art sector to artists and cultural professionals interested in gaining an insight into Berlin’s vibrant art scene. According to your requests and needs, Berlin Sessions offers three different personalized programs: Residency program, Study visits, Project management support.

Künstlerhof Frohnau

Since 2019 KHF offers a live-in guest studio in a beautiful, one-storey, half-timbered house on 155-square meters with a huge surrounding garden in the middle of the woods.Professional artists of all backgrounds are invited to apply for a self funded residency, throughout the year. There is no limitation regarding the type of artistic practice and applications from artist couples or groups are encouraged as well.Once a year there is an open call for a 2-month funded residency period, that includes free housing, a production grant and a subsequent solo exhibition in Berlin.

Lake Studios Berlin offers a residency program for contemporary dancers and choreographers. The residency hosts a maximum of 9 guests (both short and long-term). During their residency stay, artists can go deeper in their artistic practice and experiment with their art. Exchange of personal experience among artist is also important. There is not an outcome at the end of the residency period. Instead, artists can decide if they want to publicly present their work or not.

At GlogauAIR artists from diverse backgrounds can enhance their artistic practice inside a dynamic and international environment. Diverse artistic disciplines converse inside this residency and artists can expand their artistic practice, style, vision. Their calls for residency are opened four times per year. They also organize some related events such as studio visits, exhibitions, workshops, and conferences.

Künstlerhaus Bethanien runs an artist in residency program that gives artists the possibility to develop a project over a fixed period. Emerging artists can take this opportunity to consolidate their position in the Berlin artistic landscape. In addition to the residency, they also provide additional services including curatorial support, workshops, technical infrastructure … The Künstlerhaus also organizes bigger events such as exhibitions. Those events, as well as the regular Open Studio events, can provide the opportunity to meet and establish contacts with important actors in the cultural scene (I.e curators, critics …)

SomoS Berlin

SomoS offers cultivated, supportive, and stimulating surroundings to international visiting professionals wishing to realize an artistic project in Berlin. The residency is focused on production, experience, critical discourse, networking, and local participation. Participants have free access to all general workshops, artist talks, screenings, exhibitions and other regular events taking place at SomoS. They will meet regularly with SomoS’ curators to discuss and review their progress towards completing their project, and receive daily on-site practical support. At the end of the residency, SomoS organizes a presentation of residents’ recent work in a suitable public format.

PICTURE BERLIN offers two residency programs per year. The Fall Session is a 10-day professional development opportunity to enhance artists’ careers and their internationality. The resident artists will be part of the Berlin scene in a concentrated way through one on one portfolio reviews, artist studio visits, and multiple tours through the pulse of the city.The Summer Session is a 7-week hybrid residency/art academy program. The structure supports and facilitates the resident to develop their work, meet artists from the larger PICTURE BERLIN community, have one on one portfolio reviews with Berlin-based curators in addition to the opportunity to show their work in 2 different exhibitions.

"Migrant Bird Space" is a Berlin- & Beijing-based art foundation and gallery, providing a showcase for artists as well as art-agency services in China and Europe. Working out of the gallery space at Koppenplatz in the heart of Berlin, the foundation offers a professional platform for cross-cultural communication between China and Europe with a focus on contemporary Chinese art. Promoting both established and emerging artists, Migrant Birds provides gallery spaces for exhibitions in Beijing, Berlin and Shenzhen, an artist-in-residence program, regular talks and lectures, as well as support in liaising with museums, universities, private institutions and more.

ZK/U welcomes artists, scholars and practitioners in their residency program. Applications can be both individuals or groups. The outcomes of their residency stay (both individual and collaborative work) may include projects, symposia and exhibitions according to the conceptual frame. Thus, ZK/U will offer fellows optimal working and communication structures. Finally, they also offer various spaces for production, exhibiting, exchange and leisure. During the residency stay residents can attend workshops.

Tanzfabrik Berlin offers rehearsal space, studio stage and integration of projects into the pre-existing presentation formats. Therefore, at the end of the period, there will be a public show with a maximum of 80 spectators. Feedback-formats allow both artists as well as the audience an active and reflective process in dealing with contemporary dance Indeed, the program might vary according to resources available.

The residency program aims to create a space for reflection, feedback and network. They are interested in a dialogue among different disciplines (i.e. art and science). The call for residency searches for research in the transmedia environment. During the 2-months projects and works in different stages of development will be supported. The call for the residency is published always in Autumn and residency period stays from May to July.

Dancers, dance students, and teachers are the focus of this residency program. The program is made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Swedish Arts committee thus it refers to Swedish dancers. Uferstudios is a dynamic environment, Therefore, the residency period might involve not only the artistic practice but also meetings, mounting shows or organizing panel discussions.

BAI is an independent place for artistic and advanced training and research. The BAI provides all participants with a workplace, individual supervision, courses, projects, lectures, workshops, visits, and an interdisciplinary discussion forum (whether beginners or professional). In addition to the International Studio Program, the BAI offers a Residency Program for art universities & academies, institutions and foundations, Portfolio Courses, a Spring Academy, a Friends Program and the presentation and exhibition display 404 | BERLIN ART INSTITUTE.
