Description
What is an association and how can you get involved? How can associations for international artists offer opportunities for both networking and advocacy? Is it better to join an existing association or to self-organize, or both? This event explores the benefits and challenges of involvement in associations and organizations for international artists and cultural professionals.
In the first part of the event, there will be a panel discussion with artists and creative professionals who are active in associations, organizations and networks: Chang Nai Wen (director and producer), Vicky Germain (project manager), Marcela Villanueva (cultural manager). The panel will be moderated by Yaell Sherill (curator, cultural manager and dramaturg). Among others we will talk about the following questions: What is an association and how can you get involved? How can associations for international artists offer opportunities for both networking and advocacy? Take part and ask your questions!
Afterwards, you can get to know Berlin-based professional associations and organizations that support international artists and creative professionals. We have invited berlin-based associations, such as Performing Arts Programm (performing artists), initiative neue musik e.V. (contemporary music), bbk berlin (visual artists), Lettrétage (literature) and Clubcommission e.V. (club culture). There will also be consultation centers on site, such as touring artists and Kreativ Kultur Berlin . Get to know these organizations better and ask your questions directly on site. Or if you simply want to exchange ideas and chat with other participants you can join our speed dating session.
This networking event is part of the event series Get started! First steps in self-employment in cooperation with touring artists. This series of online and offline events aims to provide aspiring freelancers with a roadmap to navigate the world of freelancing in Germany. In addition, we would like to provide you with helpful tips, good practice examples and connect you with other artists and creative professionals in Berlin.
