Graphic Design is one of the professions with more labor demand in recent years. Today, the designer, has to dominate a whole world of possibilities: posters, packaging, advertising, editorials, branding, typography, lettering, web, apps, magazines, brochures, etc. This requires from the designer a constant learning and challenge and an ability to see and understand the big picture. We further believe that good design is the result of a profound intellectual process, and not just about making “pretty pictures.” So, a solid understanding of design fundamentals is essential, not just knowing how to use the „tools“. To achieve this, we will give brief insights in the history of design, its most important influencers, and different approaches and theories surrounding design.
At the end of the course you'll be able to carry out basic projects oriented to graphic, layout and logo creation and be familiar with basics and terms for web and UX/UI design.
This is a three-month intensive course will give you a start in the world of Graphic Design, and introduce you to the most important design topics and tools. Due to the limited time and intensive character of the course it is essential that students practice and work also outside the classes in order to achieve greater insight and progress. We believe it is more important to give a broad insight to get the students started in the field of graphic design and help them finding out, in what field to specialise later.
A large part of the course will comprise of implementing a variety of short graphic design exercises, and subsequently taking part in a collective group analysis of that work. Thus, you will develop your creative and analytical skills.
You will gain a basic and functional understanding of three essential software applications for a graphic designer: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign as well as an introduction to Figma for UX/UI.
