Description

On Sunday, June 24, 2018, from 3 to 7 pm, the Galerie Friendly Society will open its 79th theme exhibition "Constructive - Concrete" with works on canvas / cardboard by Pius Müller († 2017) and sculptures by the sculptor Dorsten Diekmann.

This time, we will devote ourselves to a style of art that probably causes the most misunderstandings and uncertainty in the viewer. Here Concrete Art is a very direct, an artistic style based on sensual experience that can be detected without any prior knowledge. It is neither an image of nature nor meant symbolically, but an interplay of colors, shapes, surfaces, rhythms and lines. What is to be seen is meant specifically, not vicariously, as Theo van Doesburg first defined in 1930 in the journal "Art Concret". Thus, concrete art also differs from abstract art, which - albeit greatly reduced - is based on "abstraction".

We cordially invite you and your friends to the vernissage and would be pleased to welcome you with a glass of summer punch.
