As from April 2021, Tanya Leighton seeks a self-organised, motivated and proactive candidate for an internship at a leading contemporary art gallery. A successful candidate will have a keen interest in online communication and a command of back-end website editing. They must have a proficient command of the Adobe Suite, especially InDesign and Photoshop; be attentive to detail; be effective in the organisation and prioritisation of tasks, and have a basic knowledge of contemporary art. Fluency in both English and German is preferred. Working in close proximity to the Gallery Manager, interns fulfil a key role within a busy team of full and part-time staff.
Range of tasks:
- Assisting the Gallery Manager with timely website updates pertaining to news; artworks; on and off-site exhibitions; and press articles.
- Formatting of artist CVs and press packs;
- Digital and analogue archiving, maintenance of digital database entries, and artwork inventory updates;
- Research assignments;
- Greeting gallery visitors and providing information about the current exhibition;
- General administrative tasks and running of errands.
Candidate specifications:
- Excellent image editing skills and proficiency with Adobe Photoshop
- Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Mac operating systems and Microsoft Office
- Fast learner able to pick-up the operation of new systems in an efficient and timely manner
- Confident independent worker, who follows guidelines and instructions closely without oversight
- Excellent organisational skills and a keen attention to detail
- Excellent written, copy-editing and presentation skills in both English. Proficiency in German a plus
- Ability to support team members and artists with a polite and positive demeanor
The internship is partially compensated with a stipend for three working days per week; including at least two Saturdays per month.
