Part or full-time position (20 - 40 hours/week) starting immediately.

Since 1997 the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) has played 70 concerts each year in more than 40 different countries across five continents, with 45 members and guests artists comprised of 27 different nationalities. The orchestra is a collective, governed by the musicians who remain true to the MCO‘s roots as a free and independent ensemble. They take full ownership of every decision and share responsibility with the staff for running the orchestra. It’s unlikely to find a more international orchestra than the MCO, performing in more places more often. At the MCO, we believe that music is essential. It transforms lives. Main responsibilities
• Develop and implement communications strategies to distinguish the MCO within the international classical music market
• Build and maintain close working relationships with an international range of external partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, including other departments, the orchestra board, and musicians
• Serve as the main point of contact and take primary responsibility for media inquiries, press, marketing support, and audience development
• Oversee and grow the MCO’s online presence through managing and developing the website and social media channels, using analytical insights
• Craft well-researched and engaging copy for on- and offline use, including regular newsletters and website content
• Edit and oversee all media related to the MCO, including video content, the MCO’s podcast, digital assets, and print
• Oversee the recording of concerts
• Collaborate with all departments and the orchestra board in the development and implementation of projects and the MCO’s strategy to realise digital ambitions
• Ensure quality and consistency across all MCO material, including that produced by other departments and in accordance with our house style
• Service external promoters with all materials required to promote and advertise our concerts
• Maintain and make use of the MCO’s physical and digital archive materials
• Manage the annual communications budget

Experience, skills and competencies
• Degree in music, communications, marketing, arts management or related field
• Significant experience working in classical music, preferably in marketing, communications and/or PR
• Prior international experience is advantageous, but not necessary
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and German
• Working proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Google Analytics, Microsoft Office, CMS, and Mailchimp, plus the ability to quickly learn new software and services
• Ability to conduct work independently, to proactively initiate new ideas, and to contribute to team projects
• Highly organized and self-motivated, with a strong attention to detail and ability to work quickly
• Interest in working internationally, with readiness and ability to travel for extended periods, including during weekends and public holidays
