Since 2013, the annual Expo Festival has presented and produced the work of Berlin’s international independent performing arts community with a
working language of English.
In 2022, the festival continues to grow and will showcase the unprecedented diversity of the community with evening-length performances and smaller formats or works-in-progress within the newcomer’s platform ExpLoRE.
Productions from all genres of the contemporary performing arts are invited to apply, including spoken word theater, music theater, dance theater,
performance, puppet and object theater, contemporary circus as well as interdisciplinary work and everything in between.
The primary criteria for inclusion in the festival are artistic excellence, internationalism and creative diversity. The festival accepts proposals both
for world premieres as well as the restaging of existing productions and provides financial and dramaturgical support.
Depending on the number of works selected for the festival, evening-length productions will receive between € 3,000 and € 6,000 and the work-in-
progress presentations within ExpLoRE will receive between € 1,000 and € 2,000.
