WOMEX – Worldwide Music Expo – is the most international and culturally diverse music meeting in the world and the biggest conference of the global music scene, featuring a trade fair, talks, films and showcase concerts. Over 2,600 professionals (including 260 performing artists) come together every October from 90 countries, making WOMEX the leading networking platform for the world music industry.

About the position:
As the communication manager, you will be responsible in handling the communication and marketing for the overall WOMEX event including the production phase in the host city.
The tasks include:
• Independent implementation and the development of internal and external communication activities of WOMEX
• Close cooperation with the teams for the strategic orientation of marketing campaigns
• Leading strategy and content management for online and offline channels, including all social media channels
• Support and editing of the WOMEX website and online platform virtualWOMEX
• Creation of event-related visualizations, ideally also graphic design, and advertising material (online and print)
• Coordination of the visual representation of the WOMEX brand
• Assisting with media and press relations and writing for press releases, newsletters, social media channels and websites
• Carrying out analyses and evaluations
Qualifications we are looking for:
• A degree or training in the field of communication, media, marketing or a comparable course of study
• Very good knowledge and confident application of processes and instruments in marketing and PR
• Creativity and innovation, to develop new and creative communication strategies tailored to the music industry and WOMEX's specific target audience
• Experience and good knowledge of working with content management systems, HTML and Canva
• Confident handling of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and the usual social media channels
• Very good knowledge of social media marketing and content management
• A plus is experience with e-mail marketing tools, task managers and image and video editing
• Intercultural competence: to have a good understanding of and interaction with different cultures and a global, diverse market(s)
• Good teamwork spirit and excellent communications skills
• Multitasking and organizational skills, and the ability to manage deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
• Resilience to maintain a solution-oriented way of working during high intensity production periods
• Fluency in written and spoken English- German level B2 preferably
• Passion for global music and culture
• Confidence in working in a complex, ever-evolving, global environment
Good to know:
The position requires being based in Berlin and the availability to travel at least once a year for the international production.
