This work shows a painting inspired by a screen shot still from a Skype video conversation with my aunt. During the conversation, she was in the Chilean mountains and I in Berlin, because of precarious connection and the signal interferences, the image was completely abstract.
On this work, we can see an image painted nine times in oil on paper in different colors, cut, mixed and glued in order to be recomposed. This process relates to the method of transmission of digital information by the Internet. As the image watched during our conversation, the result of this process is not important, it’s why after reproduced it, I took it back to a screen. The support shows the image as something not important giving more importance to the light of the medium (“screen”), making reference to Marshall McLuhan’s statement “the medium is the message”.
