For the 2013 edition, the curators Pascal Johanssen and Katja Kleiss collected a high quality selection of illustration art - showcasing "illustration stars" as well as young, upcoming artists and unique design collectives. The exhibition includes paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, animations and editioned works. The festival celebrates contemporary illustration and graphic art with its Main Exhibition, the Nominees of the Young Illustrators Award, the Polish Illustration Focus and several shows from universities and agencies.

Visitors will discover a variety of unique work including new visual languages, cutting-edge Illustration and three dimensional works.

Focus 2013: Crafts -- Illustration

Illustration plays a central role in contemporary craft and design. Crafts, graphics and illustration are rapidly merging into a synthesis of experimental contemporary design, bringing influences from typography, image making and product design together. Illustrative is showcasing 15 compositions which stand for this new vocabulary of craft-oriented visual art.

Guestland Poland

The exhibition "Where I come from" shows the latest illustration art from Poland, Guestland of this year’s Illustrative. Polish visual art, with its renowned Polish Poster School and a rich illustration tradition has proved influential for many artists around the world such as Henryk Tomaszewski or Waldemar Świerzy. The Polish Illustration Focus exhibition's title "Where I come from," refers to those visual influences and their traces in contemporary graphic art. It also refers to the artist's stance, examining how they view themselves and their place in the art world, what they intend to say and how they cope with the realities of the modern art market versus their need for artistic freedom.
