How do you integrate a tree into a design process? How do you use the full potential of individual branches? In order to gain a better understanding of the natural form I digitalised a beech tree using a 3D laser scanner. The purpose was to create objects that responded to the forms of the branches. As it proved difficult to force the branches into specific functions or forms, they came to define the functions and forms of the pieces of furniture. Through my conception the objects assume the characteristics of the branches, highlighting their variety.
