Installation at the Freie Universität Berlin

Installation Site

Moth Pod Possibilities exhibition: May 28th through July 28th, 2011 Opening for Berlin’s Long Night of the Sciences event.

Performance: June 8th, 2011 at midnight for the Long Night of the Libraries program. (free of charge)

Moth Pod Possibilities: Art & Architecture/Art & Science installation is soon on exhibition at the Freie Universität Philology Library, aka the Berlin Brain, and throughout the university campus. This is the inaugural exhibition destined for universities in the US.

Lord Norman Foster’s Brain library at the Freie Universität Berlin is tightly housed within square and rectangular modules surrounding the library courtyard. With free flowing air circulation and aesthetic charm- the building was designed to open the consciousness of researchers who use the space. This architecture has inspired the artist to push the limits of the architectural design in metaphor- as an open-minded Brain encased within the university’s structure.

With symbols of metamorphosis the Moth Pod Possibilities Project emerges from the brain pod. Drawings of lepidoptera in various forms were created on top of Foster’s architectural plans. A series of montage prints of these drawings include encrypted elements of scientific studies on aesthetics and neuroscience. The translucent prints are installed on 33 campus windows to convey freedom of thought outwards from this intellectual source.
