Cinema for Peace brings together global personalities from the world of film, media, politics, business and society, while celebrating the power of the moving image and its ability to unite cultures and inspire change. Since 2002 some of the worlds leading film artists and personalities have contributed to Cinema for Peace such as president Mikhail Gorbachev, Nicole Kidman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert DeNiro, Sir Bob Geldof, Liam Neeson, Sir Ben Kingsley, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, Julia Roberts, Hilary and Bill Clinton, Muhammad Ali, George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Richard Gere, Bishop Tutu, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Pussy Riot, Natalie Portman, Ben Affleck, Sting, Roger Waters, Sir Christopher Lee, Ai Weiwei, HH The Dalai Lama, UN Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon, several head of states such as President Paul Kagame and the late Nelson Mandela, who served as an honorary chairman. Cinema for Peace created global headlines for the first time in 2003 when Dustin Hoffman and George Clooney raised their voices at the Gala in Berlin against the pending war in Iraq.
