New numbers: In 2017, 39,900 companies subject to turnover tax were part of the ICT, Media and Creative Industries Cluster in Berlin. The turnover amounted to around 38 billion euros. With 215,000 employees subject to social insurance contributions and a high proportion of freelancers and part-time employees, the cluster will be a relevant labour market factor in Berlin in 2018. If self-employed employees are added, it can be assumed that 332,000 people are in employment. In 2017, almost 155,000 taxable companies were located in the Berlin economy as a whole, generating a turnover of around 229 billion euros. Thus, the cluster accounts for 25.7 percent of all Berlin companies and accounted for 16.6 percent of turnover.
