Berlin is currently the focal point of the European fashion industry, offering companies within the field of fashion excellent potential for growth and development. Among the annual highlights of the city are certainly the Berlin Fashion Week and the fashion fair Bread & Butter, but also otherwise Berlin has much to offer as a center of attraction for the fashion industry within Europe. Approximately 800 designers and fashion labels are responsible for the new trends coming out of Berlin. A plethora of networks, showrooms and fashion trade fairs draw an international audience of industry professionals, buyers as well as celebrities from the modelling world. The unique concentration of emerging and established fashion schools in Berlin provides the city with a steady growth of successors. According to the Berliner Wirtschaftsverwaltung about 2.700 fashion businesses are located in Berlin with about 25.000 employees. In 2015, the total revenue has reached almost 5 billion Euro.
In comparison to other metropolitan areas, the cost of living is low and this includes rental prices for commercial properties. This encourages business ventures by giving them more scope for creativity. As the industry has evolved, it is not surprising that many of the Berlin fashion labels sell a large portion of their collections to the international market. Belonging to this impressive list of names are Sai So, C.Neeon, Kaviar Gauche, Talkingmeanstrouble, Miroike und Penkov, just to mention a few.
