The CO₂ culture standard, which was recommended by the federal government, federal states and local authorities in October 2023, specifies key aspects specifically for cultural institutions, particularly with regard to the system boundaries of the carbon footprint. The CO₂ culture standard creates the prerequisite that in future not every single cultural institution will have to deal with the question of how the CO₂ balance sheet should be structured, but will be given the opportunity for an uncomplicated entry into the greenhouse gas calculation. To make it easier to use, an Excel tool was developed on the basis of the CO₂ cultural standard, which can be used to calculate the CO₂ footprint for cultural institutions directly in accordance with the standard - the CO₂ cultural calculator.
