Description

90mil is a temporary urban regeneration project near Jannowitzbrücke, Berlin. For just over a year we have been transforming this 2000sqm site into a multidisciplinary space for creation and community - offering studios, exhibition space, performance venue, theatre, ceramics, movement studio, wood and metal workshop, community kitchen and garden - with a donation-based programme centered on public access; eclectic, unexpected and cross-disciplinary works; and international collaboration.

Although this is a temporary home (minimum 18 months, before it is demolished for development) we see this as a rare opportunity to invigorate the underground cultural scene of Berlin, support local grassroots initiatives and create a unique hub of exchange. We want to foster a culture of inquisitiveness, creative innovation and nurturing where new people, ideas and perspectives flow freely through the space. No matter who you are or what time of day, we want you to leave feeling enriched.

OUR VISION

➤ To create a new space in Berlin that exists between genres and artforms, that is informed by interdisciplinary, international and intersectional approaches to building community and culture.
➤ To promote grass-root and DIY approaches to culture and community building. To platform alternative and emergent narratives and practices. To embrace the challenge of existing in the socio-political climate of Berlin collectively, and to learn together from alternative methods of mutual support and solidarity.
➤ To provide a regular donation based programme* directed at public access to the arts, providing workshops, classes and projects with sliding scale prices that aim to promote cross-pollination of ideas, skill sharing and engaging diverse audiences.
➤ To programme innovative events run by external collectives, independent artists, activists and fascilitators in partnership with 90mil. Through this programme we hope to reinvigorate the unexpected in Berlin; for no two events to be the same, and for audiences to be equally challenged and inspired.
