Description

Shaimaa Elgawady (born 1992) is an Egyptian filmmaker with a strong passion for documentary directing. She graduated from the German University in Cairo in 2016 with a degree in Applied Sciences and Arts, majoring in Media Design.

She has directed her first feature documentary Independent Scene along with two short documentaries and is also a cinematographer, editor, and photographer. In addition, she has worked as an assistant director on various projects, including advertisements, short films, documentaries, and music videos.

Shaimaa is currently pursuing her Master’s in Filmmaking in Berlin, further expanding her expertise in the field.
