Attempt about the impossibilities of love

(in German, partly English)

In a jungle of pop culture, fairy tales and fucked-up family patterns, two people negotiate the impossibilities of romantic relationships. They fail, drop inhibitions and shame, discover new potentials and get to the bottom of love. Off into intimacy - let's go!

High expectations have always been attached to "love". The music industry and the film industry, poetry and prose fuel the belief in the inseparable bond with the one right person. Clichéd stories of love-at-first-sight and legendary perfect matches shape our perceptions. Against the backdrop of family role models and our own relationship experiences, the illusions collapse again and again, without disappearing completely. So are we lost for love in this undergrowth of hyper-romanticism?

Director Panni Néder and her team peel back the layers of our cultural, social and familial concepts of love. With a (self-)critical eye and sharp wit, they take love apart and reassemble it. They ask themselves and us: How can people meet, perceive, understand and love each other without bias? How to deal with all the emotional baggage? And how does our way of loving influence our social coexistence and our political self?
