Der Arbeitskreis für Jugendliteratur e.V. ist der Dachverband der Kinder- und Jugendliteratur in Deutschland. 36 Mitgliedsverbände und rund 200 Einzelpersonen haben sich darin seit 1955 zusammengeschlossen. Als einziger Staatspreis für erzählende Literatur in Deutschland wird der Deutsche Jugendliteraturpreis seit 1956 jährlich verliehen.
