Description

Axel Obiger is a space for contemporary art in Berlin-Mitte. Since its foundation in 2009, it has been specifically promoting the dialogue between permanent gallery artists and invited guest artists and curators with double and group exhibitions. Obiger sees itself as a platform for socially relevant issues, which find their expression in high-profile artistic ideas and positions.

Together the Obiger artists Alke Brinkmann, Thilo Droste, Juliane Duda, Nathalie Grenzhaeuser, Harriet Groß, Gabriele Künne, Matthias Moravek, Enrico Niemann and Maja Rohwetter create not only a meeting point for Berlin-based and international artistic positions, but also a place for intensive artistic debate.

The exhibitions take place monthly and are accompanied by a variety of lectures, performances and screenings. In the past years Axel Obiger received the award for artistic project spaces from the Berlin Senate for Culture and Europe, a partial funding of the annual program by VG BildKunst and for 2020/21 the basic funding of the Berlin Senate.
