Description

Daniel Popov was born on April 4, 2003 in Berlin into a family of Russian and Ukrainian descent based in Germany. He grew up in Potsdam where he was educated at the Hermann-von-Helmholtz Gymnasium Potsdam. In his teenage years, he made the decision to dedicate his life to music and taught himself to play piano. After important guidance from local piano teachers, he received the highest scores and several first and special prizes at music competitions such as the famous nationwide Jugend Musiziert in Germany. He went on to study piano professionally in Berlin as a pre-college student at the Julius-Stern-Institute in the piano class of Prof. Dr. Thomas Menrath. After successful graduation and entrance exam, he is now continuing his classical music studies in piano performance and piano pedagogy at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). He was awarded the highest scholarship of the international academy for highly gifted musicians in Germany and has performed in renowned concert venues in Berlin (e.g. Konzerthaus Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Konzertsaal Hardenbergstraße) and Brandenburg (e.g. Nikolaisaal Potsdam, Palais Lichtenau Potsdam, Schlosstheater Rheinsberg).
