Description

Duo Kermani-Gentili is comprised of award-winning artists who share excitement for high-level collaboration and innovative programming. The duo, whose core set-up is formed by clarinet and piano, also performs frequently with guest string players in trio or quartet formation. Kymia Kermani and Alba Gentili-Tedeschi met 2012 in Berlin and initially chose the name “Ensemble End of Time” in homage to Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time.

The ensemble performed the German premiere of Norwegian composer Marcus Paus’ Trio for violin, clarinet and piano, the German premiere of the Rhapsody ASUKA for clarinet and piano by French composer Roger Boutry and the world premiere of “Ode agli abitatori di un albero abbattuto” by Italian composer Irlando Danieli.

Kymia and Alba are not only passionate chamber music players, they also worked in acclaimed orchestras and Opera Houses such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, Staatsoper and Komische Oper Berlin.

Their CD ‘Ode to the Rhapsody’ was released by Leipzig based label GENUIN in November 2018 and presents four world premiere recordings by George Gershwin, Lucien Excoffier, Irlando Danieli and Siegfried Borris.

Regular tours bring Duo Kermani-Gentili throughout Europe, most recently to Holland, Switzerland, Italy, UK, Norway, Germany and Austria. Their concert in Concertgebouw Amsterdam was live broadcasted on Dutch Radio 4.
