Description

Enrico Olivanti was born on October 4th, 1988 in Marino Laziale (Rome).

He deepened his jazz guitar training with M° Dario Lapenna at the Saint-Louis College of Music, and in 2006 he took courses at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied with Sheryl Bailey, Ken Cervenka, Mike Williams, Gary Burton studied and received a scholarship to attend the renowned American university.

At the beginning of 2009 he founded the quintet under his name, with which he recorded his first record "Sovrumani Silenzi" in November of the same year, receiving excellent feedback from critics and audiences alike. Since 2009 he has been the guitarist of the Marcello Rosa New Sextet and plays alongside the historic Italian trombonist in concerts in the capital's best clubs and events. In 2011 he is one of the founders of eXit ORCHESTRA, a Rome-based big band with which he released the album "Number One" with music by Marcello Rosa and guests such as Javier Girotto, Fabrizio Bosso, Max Ionata, Roberto Schiano, Elvio Ghigliordini , Aldo Bassi, Roberto Rossi publishes.

In 2014 he released his second album with his quintet, the suite in seven parts "Il Pensiero Positivo", which was presented in Rome in various performances and events.

His compositional activities lead him to works for solo instruments (piano, bayan accordion), chamber orchestra (Gli Arcadi, SLMC Chamber Ensemble, Synapsis Ensemble), jazz orchestra (HfMDD Jazz Orchestra), symphony orchestra (Saxon State Youth Orchestra, Rome Youth Orchestra, Central Saxony Philharmonic, Dresden Wind Philharmonic) . Experimental music and music for the film, with works performed in different countries and continents of the world including Italy, Germany, Austria, Peru, Spain, United States of America.

He lives in Germany, first in Berlin, then in Dresden, where he completed his composition studies with Prof. Thomas Zoller with a master's degree at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music thanks to a scholarship from the DAAD and subsequent entry into the master class (advanced course) with the renowned Saxon state scholarship.

In early 2017 he was invited as a guest to the Linz Conservatory (Austria) to present the music from his own album “Il Pensiero Positivo” with a group of students from the institute.

In 2019 his first multimedia work SYNPHONIA was be premiered in Dresden.

In the same year he will take part in the international composers' collective “Acantun”, within which he will take part in two projects with his own premieres: in 2021 his piece “Epopteia” for the chamber ensemble El Perro Andaluz will be premiered, in 2022 his “Improvvisi per Orchestra” as part of the LAYERS project by the Dresden Sinfonietta in Dresden and in Bonn.

August 2020 begins his collaboration with Brussels-based singer/songwriter Flavio Spampinato and records the duo's first record with drummer Joao Raineri.

In 2020-2021 he  has worked on the conception of his third record, Love Letters beneath the Doric Tomb, to be produced and released in 2022. The project sees the collaboration with internationally renowned guitarist, composer and producer Stefano Barone, who co-produced the record and performed at the Release Tours live shows.

His catalogue contains also works for Choir like “MYSTERIUM FRANCISCI” (2021) for the Meissner Kantorei, Choir, Ensemble and Electronic like “City Lights” (2023) and Chamber Orchestra and Electronic like “Nebelmeer” (2024)

Since October 2020, Enrico Olivanti has been a lecturer in jazz rock pop theory, ear training and arranging at the Dresden University of Music and has been leading his intensive work as a teacher through numerous workshops and master classes in Germany and abroad.

In the year 2025 his First Symphony for Symphonic Wind Orchestra is going to be premiered in several German Concert Halls and Festivals.
