How many sonic worlds can be heard in a modern city? What effect does the soundscape of a global capital have on its citizens?
After a "prelude" in which loneliness and alienation are reflected in the piano's harmonies, the second movement, "False Relations," echoes the city's lack of connection and connection through the choir's slow and melancholic clusters, which are layered over the continuous, drone-like soundscape of the metropolis.
It is only in the third movement, "City Lights," that the music and lyrics develop in parallel toward a new consonance between the elements of vocal music, strings, piano, soundscape, and the newly emerging electronic and techno-like beats.
