Description

LUNA PARK has existed as an independent artist collective since 2002, and as a non-profit association since its institutionalization in 2019 with its headquarters at the Gesundbrunnen Primary School in Berlin-Wedding. A particular concern of the choreographer and artistic director of LUNA PARK, Kosmas Kosmopoulos, is to open up the school as a place for culture, encounters and dance productions and to integrate (dance) artistic creation into the everyday life of a neighborhood that has very limited access to cultural education and participation. Against this backdrop, several children's plays have since been created and performed at the school, in the neighboring Uferstudios and as guest performances at Theater Lübeck and Heimathafen Neukölln. Contemporary dance performances for an adult audience are also being produced every year, and in 2023 and 2024, intergenerational theater projects with performances in Berlin and abroad have been produced for the first time. In addition, LUNA PARK regularly realizes international encounters for young dance artists and dance education professionals. The LUNA PARK productions are initiated and directed by Kosmas Kosmopoulos, but also by other established or emerging theater and dance artists who are regularly invited to realize and perform their own works as part of an artist residency.
