Description

A multidisciplinary Artist born (1991) and raised in Zimbabwe. Watermeyer attended Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa with a practice specialising in experiential Art and Sound Installation, acquiring a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2014. After graduating seeing that collaboration was one of her focused studies it did not take long for Watermeyer to navigate towards large scale art-making within the festival industry. Working as an art assistant and specialised air-brusher for "Artescape" of sufficient Decor Artist, Carin Dickson form 2016 to 2018.

Amongst this time Watermeyer gained influence from her travels of working abroad within the European festival season and returning to co-create in South Africa’s sense specifically within the community of arts festival "AfrikaBurn". Watermeyer was urged to direct her own Artwork build there, women made Land Art Installation that remained in the Tankwa Karoo desert, South Africa from 2018 - 2019. It was this project that planted the seed for Watermeyer to co-found "Weaverbirds Collective" in 2018. The group has woven sculptures around South Africa and pieces suit for public art within Germany and most recently attended "Stone Oven House", Artist Residency in Rora, Italy, 2020.

From collaborating within in these worlds and different collectives across the globe Watermeyer was being outsourced for decor design and paintwork in air-brushing and scenic painting amongst Europe, specifically within Germany. This lead Watermeyer to a shared Art Directory position within the event’s production company "Wanderzirkus", Head of Paint for large stage productions such as the main stage at "Fusion Festival" Lärz, Germany years 2018 and 2019.

Watermeyer is now based in Berlin Germany, having relocated in 2019, working as a freelance Scenic painter amongst Germany and UK. Meanwhile off-season Watermeyer works on curating "Weaverbirds Collective", conceptualising stage design for "Wanderzirkus" and maintains her freeing process with her studio practise of painting and tattoo art design, under alias "Ki Water".
