Description

Mona Jas is a visual artist and researcher working in the field of Art and Art Education. In 2014 she created the Lab for Art Education at KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin. Since 2015 she is Honorary Professor at the Weissensee Kunsthochschule. In long-term and transdisciplinary projects her research interests include art education in schools and galleries especially focusing on contemporary art forms, visual culture, social inclusion and aesthetic learning processes.

The LAB FOR ART EDUCATION approaches new formats that question the way art institutions function, and responds to current exhibitions and their concepts with flexible feedback-based processes. KW Institute for Contemporary Art works closely with artist and art educator Mona Jas to develop various forms of mediation. These forms include specific concepts for group tours as well as workshops, seminars, and other events. Mona Jas is involved in the program's developing phases, incorporates ideas from it and refines its mediation within each exhibition context.

The LAB FOR ART EDUCATION collaborates with the Heinz-Brandt Schule, the Alfred-Nobel-Schule, Jugendkunstschule Pankow, weißensee art academy berlin, the refugee center ASB Notunterkunft Alt-Moabit in the context of Berlin Mondiale, and with a7.außeneinsatz.
