Conceptual Artist

Description

Sven Vollbrecht is a Berlin-based conceptual artist known for his introspective and thought-provoking works, which explore the complexity of human connections and societal reflections.

Initially, Vollbrecht worked as a photographer and director for commercial projects before fully dedicating himself to art, driven by the creative limitations in that field. His works often engage with consumer culture and human interactions with various industries, viewing them as integral parts of modern life.

His artistic process is fluid and self-reflective, evolving in harmony with his personal experiences and emotions. Vollbrecht prefers not to explain his artworks in detail, allowing viewers to form their own interpretations without being restricted by his perspective. His recent exhibitions, including Schöneberger Art and Berlin Art Week, feature installations that invite reflection on everyday objects and societal norms.

Vollbrecht’s approach to art emphasizes the importance of personal freedom and authenticity, both in the creative process and in how art interacts with its audience.

„My approach to art is not rigid. I see it as a continuous process that evolves with me as an artist. Each piece reflects the moment of my life in which it is created, mirroring my feelings and experiences. In this way, my art becomes ’selfish‘ because it shows my current state of being.

When I work on a new piece, I often start with a theme that I explore intensively. Design and materials change throughout the creative process. For exhibition projects, I set clear deadlines to finish on time. However, with personal projects, I enjoy the freedom to shape the process at my own pace.

I also use my art to raise critical societal questions, such as in my piece ‚Trust,‘ which addresses the food industry. It is important to me that art does not follow fixed ideas but allows for an open, experience-based approach. This is why I often work with installations and interactive pieces that actively engage the viewer, allowing them to form a deeper, personal connection with my art
