Looking for people to participate
in a project by artist Alvaro Urbano,
at the Neue Nationalgalerie.

Looking for 4 performers - all
welcomed. No previous experience
required. The only requirement is
to be comfortable walking 30 mins
at a time.

About Alvaro Urbano:
The references to theatre and
dioramas in Urbano’s work, which
stem from his fascination with fictional spaces operating in closed peripheries give a glimpse
of his utopian imagination. His installations, videos, and performances continually create a
dialogue between nature, the living world and space

About the performance:
The public, where it would normally face static objects, is presented
with animated, moving architectural bodies, fracturing attention and changing the usual flow
of movement through Mies van der Rohe’s masterpiece.

Avant-garde Architect, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, was the figure of minimalist approaches to
projecting spaces. He created the maximum effect with the minimum number of elements,
generating domestic arenas and interior circulation.
For his performance, Alvaro Urbano has created animated replicas of the structure and
frameworks of the Neue Nationalgalerie hall.

The performance Skin and Bones narrates a fictional present where the architect loses
agency over his own design. The architectural details, free from their function, wander around
the building as if they finally could feel and move.

Performance Date:
Sunday 12th September at the Neue Nationalgalerie from 12pm to 6pm.
Fee: 150 euros (incl. VAT. + one 2.5h rehearsal at the Neue Nationalgalerie)
