THE ROLE
As Editorial Manager (f/m/d), you will translate editorial concepts into commercially successful publications by leveraging project management, production, and organizational expertise. You’ll work hand in hand with editors, designers, producers, sales, marketing, communications, and external partners.
The ideal candidate will come from a publishing background and have a strong understanding of content development. This candidate will also have excellent project management skills, be a strong communicator, and have superb quality control awareness. You will be able to multi-task and be highly organized. This role will suit a confident and outgoing personality who is able to hit the ground running.
WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
- Take on and execute briefs provided by the Publisher, the Editors, or directly from clients
- Manage book publishing projects from concept to completion
- Set project timelines
- Monitor project deliverables
- Have costs and schedules under control
- Manage stakeholder relationships
- Update relevant stakeholders or team members on the project’s progress
- Delegate tasks to project team members and mentor junior project managers
- Prepare project documentation, including meeting notes, status reports, and approval documents
- Acquire, organize and archive image material using the in-house image acquisition database
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Solid account management or project management experience in print publishing is a must
- Ability to take and give direction on projects
- Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written German and English
- Strong presentation skills and the desire to work in a client-facing role
- You are based in Berlin (or willing to relocate) and eligible to work in Germany
