For the past five years Mary Patricia (mp) Warming has been traveling the globe performing. Her action art stems from an exploration of the junction between femininity and feminism. She describes this terrain as the interplay between strength and grace, “like a ballerina on her bloodied little toes”. She works to help shift the concreteness of paradigms and has recently expanded her art to concept installation.

Her present project, Mod Pod Possibilities/Die Möglichkeitsformen des Falters, is an Art & Science/Art & Architecture installation with Lord Norman Foster’s Philology Library (aka the Berlin Brain) opening at the Freie Universität Berlin May 28th - July 28th, 2011.

This is the inaugural exhibition destined for universities and libraries in the US. In this work, art becomes conduit between institution and society in an attempt to release the intelligence from the university structure. On the wings of lepidoptera, 33 translucent prints reflect neuroscience out from the campus windows. mp will also perform “burying theory” as the art action for the project in the library courtyard on June 8th.

mp has performed as Sirena in Lido, Italy and in collaboration with Hilla Steinert in Nuremberg. She danced as Muse with the arctic flow in Twillingate, Newfoundland. Her blindfolded swims were done solo in
the US and with Steinert in Germany.

In 2008 she developed Monkeyshines & Soothsaying Monkey as artist in residence at bauchhund salonlabor. Monkey told voodoo futures while riding round the platz in a limousine provided by the gallery. An installation of mirrors borrowed from the fine folks of Berlin was included for her “trust art” network.

At the 2009 Venice Bienalle mp performed a triptych of Madonnas entitled the Second Coming - all were performed as part of Space Memory for the deTournement events sponsored by the 53rd Venice Biennale, the art & architecture factory, Provinciadi Venezia, Regione del Veneto & Associazione Culturale Italo-Tedescaonlus Venezia.
