LOT1 are young (offline) art auctions for Berlin.

We are the first auction house to enter the primary market and use the forms of communication and reception of the digital age to establish contact with art. No mere finger tapping completes the purchase and thus the interaction with art: The objects up for auction can be experienced in their immediacy, distributed throughout the city they can be viewed at the locations of our partners (selected exhibition venues, studios, concept stores, etc.). On site, the artworks can be scanned with the cell phone via augmented reality object recognition - further information on the work and artist is displayed. The map function shows exhibiting locations or guides directly to the artworks via GPS, offers thematic walks (e.g. by district or genre) or makes suggestions ("You might also like", "Near you"). The augmented reality function also offers the possibility to test the discovered artworks easily and quickly on the wall at home.

With LOT1, we want to break down inhibitions and invite people to encounter art and its artists in an informal way. We see LOT1 as an invitation to all those who can't make up their minds or can't find their way in the hardly manageable online market and to all those who want to feel part of their city by experiencing, promoting and exchanging ideas about the local art scene in a new way - digitally as well as analogously.

We are an alternative to online-only offerings for affordable art, combining the digital with the analog. Our auctions take place live and offline - with hammer and desk, number slips and hand signs. They are event and exhibition at the same time - with the joy of meeting, conversations, music, snacks and drinks. We invite you to changing locations and attach great importance to personal exchange; because we see Berlin as a space of living, experiencing and dynamically changing culture and also as a global center for art that has become individual - which concerns us all. Bids are placed live offline and in advance online, and previews of the artworks take place digitally and in real space.
